row, row, row your boat

not sure who was the creative one that figured out that if you turn the toddler picnic table upside-down, it can act as a boat!!!

monkey see, monkey do

I realize that the girls "notice" and understand when I am nursing abby...but I didn't think it would go this far.... (gabby is using the boppy and we had to make a nursing pillow for mary)

miracle of life

Just one week into having another newborn and I am still on my "high." With the trio, we never seemed to have enough time to actually reflect on the awesome-ness of life. It amazes me how the Good Lord has created this child... first out of cells...transforming her into a tiny, perfect, human being - complete with toe nails and eye lashes, and little hairs on her ears....and creases in her forehead and the ability to "know" what she needs at any moment. And how a mother's body can protect and care and grow this miracle... before birth, during, and after. Again and again... as I think about this, I just can't get over how miraculous life is and how much we have to be grateful for. I am more than truly blessed.

no fooling you guys....

Guess I will have to come up with a more "tricky" poll!

guess the garcia

Everyone claims to "know" the Garcia triplets (you follow the blog, right?)... so test your skills and guess which girl is which?!?!?! Who is #1? Who is #2? Who is #3.... (sorry, Mateo!)

1?

2?

3?

Baby Abigail

Birth story.....
All last week I had been having contractions on and off... and at various points we thought that we were pretty close to going to the hospital....but then they would taper off. Finally on Thursday (1/14/10) evening, they became more regular and by 11pm, they were 2-3min apart.

We arrived at Fairview Hospital and were in the birthing room by midnight. I didn't receive my epidural until 4am. (Poor Lou - having to suffer through 4 hours with me!!!) By 7am, the doctor broke my water.... and by 9:30am they were giving me medication to speed up the contractions.... luckily, the epidural was still somewhat working (but by no means, working all the way!!!) My doctor arrived just about 11:45am and told me that I could start pushing.

Abigal Haleya was born at 12:24pm... and according to Lou, came into this world like a rocket! (And I believe it... when her head was out, the doctor wasn't in the room and chaos erupted as the nurse and Lou told me to "STOP PUSHING" so that they could get the doctor in the room to catch the rest of her).

I have a completely different respect for women and motherhood having gone through a VBAC (vaginal delivery after c-section) .... the Lord must know what he is doing to allow our bodies to go through such a miraculous experience.

40 weeks....

Momma G is 40 weeks pregnant today with Baby G.... and although the pains continue, there isn't anything remotely notable for delivering any time soon....

Keep us in your thoughts & prayers!

family game night

After 7 years of marriage I caved into the "we need a video game" system theory. And now... I realize why I had waited 7 years and how another 5 would be appropriate!

It is sad when your 3yr old not only WANTS to play the video games....but can tell you how to do it! (see video clip below.)

But kudos to Daddy for finding age appropriate games for the trio... they love spending time with Daddy playing "cars" (mater is their fav) and "football" (go browns!)

future buckeye?

Thank you, Robertson Family, for teaching the trio the "buckeye" chant!!! They LOVE to sing the "hang-on-sloopy-sloopy-hang-on" song for The Ohio State Buckeye's.

thank you, VA friends!

Our good friends (Christa & Jan-Jan) from Harris Teeter in VA sent the trio Christmas gifts... and of course they had a blast opening the packages... (especially since they were wrapped in Thomas the Train & Tinkerbell wrapping paper!) The high-lights were the infamous Harris Teeter sugar cookies... a package for each Garcia child.

And yes... the tear Mary is shedding is because Mommy was going to open just 1 package of sugar cookies to share amongst the three... And yes.. I caved and opened all 3 packages so each child could have their "own" cookie from their "own" package. Am I a push-over or what?

Cleveland Winter

No... I'm not going to complain about how much time and energy it took to dress the trio for a trip outside to play in the snow... nor how long they actually lasted out there..... but let's just say we haven't gone outside again.

And sadly, the 1st snowfall yielded snow that wasn't fit for making a snowman...too powdery. If only the weather would warm up past the low 20's... perhaps we could build our own Frosty...

and I want more....

Am I crazy for going for #4??? And actually... I had tuned out most of this background noise as I was making dinner... but then realized that all of YOU would want to see what you were missing :)

baby g - update

Nope... no baby G yet.... hopefully soon!

the klumps

I guess we aren't that far off from the "klump" family in our household (they are the family in the movie "the nutty professor")

.... Yesterday, at the dinner table, Mary rips one off of her chair...
mom: who did that?
mary: me
mom: what do we say?
mary: scuze me
gabby: mom...i tooted too!
mom: oh really?
gabby: yes, it was a quiet one!

I guess reading about opposites in our book has paid off...we now know the difference between a quiet toot and a loud toot. Just wonderful.
