abort mission

I must tell you about my "mission gone bad" last Friday.

At some point, I think pregnancy or motherhood in general forces you to lose part of your common sense. Actually, I think the lost portion of common sense becomes the notion that I CAN DO ANYTHING! Ridiculous as the task might be, if I am a "mom", I no-doubtedly am going to try to do it, alone, and do it well...

So off on errands I am with the trio...and since it was such a lovely day (70's) I thought a quick stop at the big park before lunch was a good idea. I like this park mainly because it has a squishy ground (not mulch) and lots of baby swings. (Mateo eats mulch.) Out of the car and into the triplet stroller....over to the swings. The kiddo's love it and get so excited because they are now "remembering" the park and what fun it is.

Unfortunately, my thinking that I could manage 2 walkers and a crawler with THREE DIFFERENT interests was poor judgement. Off the swings, on the swings, over to the jungle gym, chase the red rubber ball, onto the ride-on animals, back on the swings... onto the cement, then the grass....YIKES!

Oh yes...there were stares. Lots of them. Some women offered to help...others just shook their heads...some applauded and admired that I lasted as long as I did. (about a half hour)

Common sense finally did kick in...and I scooped them up...under my arms...got them into the stroller and bolted before they realized what they were missing.

Next time, I am going to bring a helper!

mass chaos

Not a terribly difficult equation to figure out :)

4 adults + triplets + 3 sets of twins + 2 older girls (school was off for the day) + the 700sq ft basement in the Garcia home = MASS CHAOS.

We hosted a play group last Thurs.... and it was fun. Loud, but fun! Besides the trio, we had 2 sets of twins that were about 16mo, and another set of twins that were 2 years old. The older girls were around age 6 and came along with their siblings because school was out for the day. No catastrophe's... just lots of eating (from one of the mom's whom we dubbed the "banana vending machine"), some screams, and adult's sharing helpful "mom" tips. Wooo-Hooo!

cherry blossom

Another camera phone goodie! Not bad for a cell phone...

The babies are really starting to enjoy looking and learning about their surroundings. We stop to look (and feel) trees, rocks, grass...anything that is safe and different.

Our neighborhood is lined with cherry blossoms and it is so pretty to walk up and down the hills in view of them!

wonderful day in the neighborhood

Grabbed the below with my cell phone...one fine day when we took the wagon out for a spin. Actually, if the weather tops 50 (and usually it does) we take a stroll. The warmer the weather, the longer we walk. (And sometimes we even stop at the neighborhood park...fora ride on the swing.)

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone! We spent a wonderful day with Aunt Michele and Uncle Jeremy. They arrived at 7:30am so that we could all go to 8am Mass....and the babies were pretty good sports...especially since they didn't really eat breakfast until we got home at 930am!!

Lots of eating, playing, and outdoor walks made for a very nice, and relaxing day!

we are growing up... FAST

The trio had their 15mo check up this past Monday. Mateo is 23.5 lbs!! Mary, is just 6oz shy of her brother at 23lbs....and is just a smidge taller than him! Gabby finally is gaining weight and is 19lbs...still the smallest of the three.

They are growing by leaps and bounds and it amazes me each day what new thing they learned. The most favorite (and recent) is to grab their coat so that we can go outside for a walk. Unfortunately, they don't understand that the elements of rain and 30mph winds aren't condusive to walks in the neighborhood. I'll give some snip-its under the pic's!

Mateo is finally showing interest in things other than food! He is crawling onto furniture and waving "bye." He is slowly learning to use his weight to help him walk....it won't be long now before he can do it on his own!

Mary is desparately trying to catch up with her sister. Above is her attempt to crawl onto the jumperoo. She almost made it...but just couldn't hang on. She was sooo frustrated! Mary is one step behind Gabby in learning to point to her body parts.

Gabby knows where her nose, ears, eyes, belly, hair and toes are...and isn't shy about showing you! (She is pointing to her ears in the above pic.) She is also the most needy of the three. For several weeks now she constantly cries to be held or shown attention. The doc says that she is learning her independence, but doesn't quite know how to "let go" yet... I hope she learns soon.... my nerves are starting to crack!

Mary loves to read her "Brown bear" book... What a great smile!

Yes, another picture with "dad". They are just soo happy to see him that I can't help but take the picture.

Trio playing around with the "bohemian" hats that our friends at NL gave us when we visited while in FL. They had a blast pulling them off each other's head :)

Florida trip

We had a great time visiting our friends in FL! Even though only our first and last days in FL proved to have the best weather, we really enjoyed the time away. (sigh - it is supposed to be nice all this coming weekend!)

A HUGE thank you to the Futch family for letting us stay with them... Tim, Christy and David are good friends (we think of them as family) and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with them. They made us feel completely at home and we appreciated their warm hospitality! (It isn't easy hosting a family of 5, especially when 3 of them are 15mo!)

We HAD to go out to Moes to eat our first night in Jax! (trio with their friend, David)

The babies LOVED having Daddy around all week/weekend...and just couldn't get enough of him!

We had lots of time to spend in-doors (due to the weather) so we stopped to see the Easter Bunny - didn't go over quite as well as we hoped!

Trio at the zoo with our friends, Fay and Dave

Garcia family photo at the zoon. Can you tell how cold it is from their winter jackets???

Fay and Mommy with the trio... (what IS that in the background?)

Another favorite spot in Jax was "Tokyo" - a japanese hibatchi grill... we loved it and so did the babies. (Left to right- Tim, David, Mateo, Christy, Mary, Lou, and Gabby)

Farewell picture of trio with "cousin" David

We had only about 15min to spend at the beach - the kiddo's loved it and I wish we could have stayed longer..... Mateo and Mommy at the beach.

Mary LOVED walking around in the sand in her bare feet.

Mommy & Gabby (Gabby didn't like the sand too much.)

We were lucky enough to stay with our friends, Patti & Rick for one night on our way back to VA. Their son, Brett, was visiting.... and Mateo took to him instantly. (Mateo also liked their pup, Toby!) Thank you to Patti & Rick for also making us feel so very welcome in their home!

Babies strolling around in Patti's development. (The "no-see-ums" - aka mosquitos - were out with a vengence and the babies were NOT happy!)

Gabby drawing on the etcho-sketch that Aunt Hilary gave them for the trip.

Mary caught on, too... to using the sketch pad!

Mateo... not so much. He rather eat the special pen than use it!

Not sure if Mateo was happy because we were about an hour away from returning home... or if he was full from the pizza he had just eaten!

Gabby was lifting her leg to, ahem, let the gas fly.... (she obviously enjoyed her pizza as well!) See the smirk? She knew what she was doing....

Not 30 seconds back in the car and the "misty" had her shoes AND socks off! That stinker!

on the mend

The Garcia triplets seem to be on the mend! Now, if we could only keep it that way! A few weeks away from "germs" should do it... (keep your fingers crossed.) Unfortunately, mommy caught the nasty bug....but at least we have the kiddo's attempting to sleep at night!

Gabby strikes again - our official climber. Her cognitive skills are tremendous! She can go and get an object that you ask for, and just today...she pointed to the changing table because she had just done a poopy!

Mary - our ray of sunshine. (No pun that she is really sitting in the sun!) She is our constant silly one and smiler. And never to be caught without several paci's in hand. (Although we are working on teaching her it isn't nice to steal the paci from Mateo, our efforts have been futile.)

Mateo...our turtle... "slow and steady wins the race." He is our laid back, "mommy's" boy and loves to hear you call his name. (He has dimples to prove it!)

We leave tonight for FL and hope to have lots of pictures to post when we return next week!

"T"emper "T"antrum

With the trio being sick, we have had lots of moans, groans, and cries. And of course, the usual Temper Tantrums (note the capital "T") seem to persist now, more than ever. This is on a day where Mary had 2 naps! (No, you don't want to see it on a day where she only has 1.)

Isn't it funny how Mateo and Gabby go about their business? It is like they completely tune Mary's screams out... (Mommy needs to learn that trick!)

answer

The dr's appt proved to be worthwhile. Mateo's ear infection is on the mend, and although Mary's ear still looks infected, it appears to be getting better, as well.

Gabby's bouts of (ahem) "stomach bug" and diarreah are most likely from the rotavirus, (Ewww!) which she probably caught at the babysitting place that I have been taking them to when I go to the gym to workout. (They have an in-care "kidz-zone" that watches the kiddo's while you work-out.) It is a total bummer since we only joined in early Feb, and they have only been to the zone about 5 times. The doc wants us to lay low for another 3 weeks... so there goes my attempt at losing the weight that would allow me to wear real human clothes!!

At least I feel as though we have some answers... the doc is concerned that Mary and Mateo will catch Gabby's virus....and so far, Mary is the only one showing signs of possibly having it. Mateo must have a stomach of steel.
