i'm handsome and I know it

There is a hip-hop song out now that is called, "I'm sexy and I know it." Appropriate for the triplets? Probably not...but none-the-less, they have heard the song. I altered the words a bit and replaced "sexy" with "handsome" for Mateo...and "pretty" for the girls. They understand that the other word is for grown-up use and not for them to say.

This morning, when Mateo dressed himself, he put on the pants and zipper coat of his black and red warm up suit. Pretty sharp looking. As I told him how "nice" he looked- dressing himself, he replied... "I'm handsome and I know it!" And then, of course, followed up with a dimpled smile.

Tonight, as we were getting ready for bed, he unzipped the jacket and I noticed he wasn't wearing a shirt underneath.

I guess he really DID want to be sexy!

Ready... set... toot!

This was just too funny this morning for me to not post... As I was getting the girls ready this morning (i.e. dressed)... we were joking around and I said... "ready... set..." and then I tooted. They got a kick out of it.

But then Abby yells... "Ready?!" and then toots as loud as she could. All the girls burst out laughing... I was laughing because I couldn't believe that Abby had that much control over herself already... and Gabby was laughing because she thought I staged the whole thing. It took 5 minutes of me promising that I didn't do it- Abby did... before she finally believed me.

Ahh... the fun we have at 8 in the morning!

Mary's beloved

As I was putting Mary to bed last night and laid down beside her in her bed, my hand instinctively reached under her pillow... and not to my surprise, I found a pacifier. Abby's "ba" as she affectionately calls it. Mary used to be a hard-core paci sucker. She would have one in her mouth, and hold a 2nd one in her hand as she fell asleep. I just didn't realize that although we said "goodbye" to the one in the mouth, she still had a need to keep one nearby.

Of course she said she was saving it for Abby, in case she needed it...

Don't worry, Mary, your secret is safe with me.

2yr check-up

Abigail had her two year check-up and, weighing in at just over 28lbs is at the 75th percentile for weight. She is topping the charts at 90th percentile for height. No matter what I try, I just can't stop this girl from growing up!

brotherly love

It is a usual occurrence at the dinner table for one (if not more) child(ren) to jump up and yell "I gotta go potty"... and then scamper off to the bathroom. On this particular night, Mary had run in and a short while later yelled that she needed wiping. We have begun the process of having them try to wipe themselves, since Mom will NOT be around in school to help them with this, um, necessary task. So, I responded to Mary that she needed to wipe herself... Mary, distraught at the thought, requested help again, and I sternly told her she needed to work on this herself. But, to Mary's shock, Mateo ran over to the bathroom and yelled, "I'll wipe you, sister!"

Only a loving brother would offer to do so.

And only a sensitive sister would decline such an offer.

augh... my girls!

Mary, as we are passing the jewelry stand at Costco.. "Daddy, I want a diamond ring for my birthday." Umm... sorry, sista... but I had to wait 26 years for my ring... Somehow, I think that she will end up getting a ring from Daddy earlier, rather than later!

Gabby, laughing hysterically as Mateo enters the room... "No, I am not laughing at you... it is a joke in my head!" (Yeah, right... nice cover!)

strike!

Over Christmas break, Aunt Hilary and cousins Thomas, Joseph, and Savannah, along with Uncle Brett, met us at Bay Lanes for a round of bowling. Even Abby and Savannah tried to get into the action by constantly running down the alley- chasing the bowling ball.

the spring fever bug

We have been blessed with some very nice weather! Just a week or so ago, we spent some time outside at a nearby Nature Center... visiting the animals, taking a walk on a trail, and performing on an outdoor stage! We have been bit with spring fever and are ready to start a garden!

picture perfect

On a recent trip to the Rainforest (located at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo) the girls decided that they wanted to "pose" for some pictures. We were lucky to have Aunt Liz with us on this specific trip. (Abby finally had just gone into her stroller, so I was not about to take her out for a few pic's....)
