Abby - When asked if she wanted to make "Lolo" sad by being a bad girl and hitting other kids, Abby responded.. "No, I LOVE Lolo!"
Mary - Mary was upset that Miss Katie had to go home and wouldn't be staying longer at our house. I told Mary that Miss Katie didn't live with us and needed to go back to her own house. "But Miss Katie is part of our family - she LIVES in our family."
Gabby - when asked what her favorite part of safety town was last week, Gabby responded, "making new friends." (Which Mary rolled her eyes at... "you always say things like that!")
Mateo - approached my bed this morning all sad... "Mommy, I need a kiss from you before I can wake up!"
all - This morning, the girls took me by the hand because they wanted to show me something in their room. When I got in there, they told me to touch the spindle (the rocking chair that they had turned backwards). I played along and touched the spindle - falling down and into a deep sleep like Princess Aurora. (Actually, it wasn't too hard to want to fall back asleep!) Not long after, the girls dragged Daddy into the room to tell him that he had to kiss his princess to break the sleeping spell. I have to admit that I enjoyed my first performance of sleeping beauty!
I am pretty darn lucky to have such cute kids.

plans
Mateo's response to me when I told him I wasn't sure what we were going to do tomorrow...
"We don't have any plans?" (No, no plans I responded). "Well, I have a plan... hmm.... we can go to that place... maybe a museum? Is there one nearby? Or the library? Or the nature center? And Subway... I like that place. We can eat there? And get cheese on our sandwich... and eat their chips there... you know, the cheeto's. Sounds like a good plan, Mom?
It sure does, Toe. :)

Princess Ball
The girls and I went to a princess ball held at the Middleburg Hts. community center at the end of May. It was literally a wedding reception-style party - complete with DJ, princesses, and food. The girls had a blast dancing with their favorite princesses!

the performance
Yesterday was Daddy's birthday and we had a few family members over to celebrate. The girls wanted to put on a performance of their most recent "favorite" movie... something about a barbie princess named Odette, and her wanna-be-prince, Derrik. With several mighty tries, the girls just couldn't remember (nor agree) as to how the performance was to begin.. and as we were getting ready to just call the whole thing off, Flash Gordon (aka Mateo) ran over to them to tell them how the movie started and saved the day. Fifteen minutes of adult belly laughter ensued as the girls, Mateo... and even Abby, entertained us with their attempts of song, theatrics (Mary had to play prince Derrik while Mateo was a turtle) and simple innocence. As I watched my five year olds "play pretend" I just couldn't stop thinking about how fast they have grown up...and how the world has already influenced them.

color my world...
Mateo announced that the boo-boo on his knee was as red as a sun-dried tomato. What five year old says things like that?

where are they now?
Today the trio had their kindergarten screening, and Gabby can't stop talking about when she can start school at St. Raphael's. My little cherub loves to learn and isn't afraid to tout off her smarty-pants. She was one of the first kids in her pre-k class to learn to tie her shoes (a few weeks back) and is proud of the fact that she can print her name both ways- Gabrielle and Gabby. (No easy feat, I must say.) She loves to play dress-up and has been caught quite a few times not only mimicking Ariel singing, but making up her own songs. She is very loving and is always on the look-out for someone to give her a hug.
Mary continues to show us her strength. She is a strong kicker (and puncher), thanks to her Taekwando training. She is passionate about what she does and easily becomes frustrated when she doesn't reach perfection. She recently passed her shoe tying test as well- beaming ear to ear! Like Gabby, Mary loves to perform and play dress up. She prefers to wear skirts and jewelry and you will catch her looking at her image in the mirror. Both Mary and Gabby love to play "mother" to baby Abby.
It is an understatement to say that Mateo likes star wars and legos. And when we combine the two- he is at his happiest. He takes pride in completing the different levels of his various lego wii games - including (but not limited too) the star wars saga. He easily makes friends and you will find Mateo wearing a smile most of the day. (Even when he has fallen down, time and time again, on the soccer field.) Our fun loving boy may be a small step behind his sisters, but his persistence is most admirable.
Abby is our trouble maker. She is always into something... and has learned that physical brute-ness is the only way to get what you want! (Laugh, you may...but she has taken on all three triplets and shown just how competitive her strength is!) She is absolutely in love with her sisters (and occasionally her brother) and speaks so well now, that I often forget she is just past two years of age! She is smart (apparent by her "I'm sorry" hug when she knows she is in trouble), funny, and can always bring a smile to our faces. Mateo has taken a liking to calling her "goo-goo-ga-ga" because he is tired of hearing us tell him to ease up on her because she is a baby.
