March vacation

We just returned from a 10 day vacation to Florida! Although we were gone when Cleveland was having record high temps, I have to take comfort in the fact that we were enjoying the same warm weather - but under the umbrella of palm trees!

We stayed at a Marriott family resort in Orlando and had a blast! (See picture taken below.) We visited a Disney park one day, and Legoland another... and enjoyed friends, swimming, and just being together as a family.

As soon as I can sort through 1000 pictures, I will try and upload my favorites!

using your imagination

The trio have really begun to use their imaginations - especially with role play. On any given day they are zooming into space on a rocket, or fighting off Darth Vader with their Jedi swords, or pretending to act out the whole movie, "The Little Mermaid." (Wait until you hear Mary pretending to be Ursala... she really gets into the villain character!) And what is even better, is that they allow Abby to sometimes join in... "Queen Abby" was directing the girls just the other day. What a treat to be able to sit back and enjoy!

backseat driver

I am trying to remember if I ever critiqued my parents driving when I was a kid - let alone actually paying attention to how they were driving. Throughout the day, I am constantly reminded by Gabby to have "two hands on the wheel" or "you didn't make a complete stop at that sign."

Who needs the police when you have a five year old enforcer?

bad numbers!

I was trying to give Abby a time limit as to how long I would rock her before her nap. I started to count backwards from ten... and at each number, she would look at me and draw out her "noooo" and then the number.

Mommy: "ten"
Abby: "noooo ten"
Mommy: "nine"
Abby: "noooo nine"
Mommy: "eight"
Abby: "noooo eight"

you get the idea.... it was the cutest thing!

i'm handsome and I know it

There is a hip-hop song out now that is called, "I'm sexy and I know it." Appropriate for the triplets? Probably not...but none-the-less, they have heard the song. I altered the words a bit and replaced "sexy" with "handsome" for Mateo...and "pretty" for the girls. They understand that the other word is for grown-up use and not for them to say.

This morning, when Mateo dressed himself, he put on the pants and zipper coat of his black and red warm up suit. Pretty sharp looking. As I told him how "nice" he looked- dressing himself, he replied... "I'm handsome and I know it!" And then, of course, followed up with a dimpled smile.

Tonight, as we were getting ready for bed, he unzipped the jacket and I noticed he wasn't wearing a shirt underneath.

I guess he really DID want to be sexy!

Ready... set... toot!

This was just too funny this morning for me to not post... As I was getting the girls ready this morning (i.e. dressed)... we were joking around and I said... "ready... set..." and then I tooted. They got a kick out of it.

But then Abby yells... "Ready?!" and then toots as loud as she could. All the girls burst out laughing... I was laughing because I couldn't believe that Abby had that much control over herself already... and Gabby was laughing because she thought I staged the whole thing. It took 5 minutes of me promising that I didn't do it- Abby did... before she finally believed me.

Ahh... the fun we have at 8 in the morning!

Mary's beloved

As I was putting Mary to bed last night and laid down beside her in her bed, my hand instinctively reached under her pillow... and not to my surprise, I found a pacifier. Abby's "ba" as she affectionately calls it. Mary used to be a hard-core paci sucker. She would have one in her mouth, and hold a 2nd one in her hand as she fell asleep. I just didn't realize that although we said "goodbye" to the one in the mouth, she still had a need to keep one nearby.

Of course she said she was saving it for Abby, in case she needed it...

Don't worry, Mary, your secret is safe with me.
