We have a local beach to Lake Erie that is only a few minutes drive, however, we never visit. (Hmm???) So, when Daddy was off for the week on vacation, we thought it a good time to tackle the lake and have a good time. The water was clear and shallow and since it was during the week, it wasn't terribly crowded. Success, I say!

black and white
As I listen to the triplets interact with me, each other, and strangers we have just met, it is apparent how "black and white" their world is. It is simple, and naive, and wholesome... and I can't help but wonder how long I can protect them and keep their world this easy....
chutes and ladders
Mommy - "see, the ladders take you up spaces and the chutes are like slides and take you down spaces"
Gabby - "oh no! I landed on a chute! I don't want to go down the chute"
Mateo - "I will save you, Gabby!"
Mary - "No!!!! That is not fair... she has to go down the chute"
A physical fight now ensues between Mary and Mateo as to the fairness of him saving Gabby from the chute....
I wish Mateo could save me my from my "chutes!"
together forever
Great Lakes Science Center
We went to the Great Lakes Science Center with Aunt Liz at the end of June... and the kids had a great time in the one room that was dedicated to the younger kids! I can see us spending many a days "educating" ourselves as they get older!
they had a large computer that Mateo really enjoyed

strawberry pick'n
A few years back, when we lived in VA, Uncle Jeremy and I took the trio strawberry picking which equated to Jeremy and I taking turns pulling them in the wagon out to the field, and then Jeremy and I picking the berries... which they enjoyed eating on the way back to the entrance.
So this time, I wasn't quite sure what to expect!
And so it goes without saying that a few years makes a huge difference! Only Abby was pulled in the wagon and the triplets had a blast picking the berries, albeit we were "late" in the season and they were the size of half an inch.

quiet communication
Just when you think you have found solitude in the bathroom, someone slides a folded up coloring sheet under the door. (With, I am sure, a secret message encoded in invisible ink.) But hey- I should be thankful that at least they weren't knocking and breaking the door down!

weighing in
At Abby's 18mo appt, we found out that she is 25lbs., 1oz (50-75% of her peers), is 33" long (75-90% of her peers) and has a teeny-tiny head. She is way ahead of the game when it comes to everything else- thanks to her brother and sisters!
a potty built for two
You have heard of a bicycle built for two, right? But a potty? It is the new invention of the trio's (well, actually, just Gabby & Mateo).... It works by Gabby sitting on the potty and peeing while Mateo stands along side of the toilet- peeing behind her.
Gasp?!? You say? So did I... and they looked at me and said, "see Mom, there's plenty of room for both of us to go!"

all scream for ice cream
Summer isn't summer without a trip to Martin's Deli with the Keberdle's. We walk/run/bike from The Keberdle's house to a local deli that sells ice cream and enjoy the sweet treat before returning home. We calculated round trip takes about an hour... not bad, especially since the older ones are riding themselves!

memphis kiddie park
We had to expand our Kiddie Park trip into two different days because of rain, but the kids didn't seem to mind! We let Abby go on a few rides for the first time and she had a blast! But I think her sisters enjoyed it more- fighting over who got to sit next to Abby!

ARG!
In trying to compete with my sisters who always have something fun for the kids to do, I decided during our Father's Day family picnic that we would go on a pirate treasure hunt. Complete with eye patches, bandana's, and hidden clues that led to a treasure map and ultimately, hidden treasure, I think I enjoyed the event more than the kiddo's! Since then, the trio have wanted to go on more hunts... so next time, maybe I can get someone to walk the plank! ARG!
